Do you want to build a snowman?

After using my Promarkers a little more I realised that the paper I was using wasn't bleed proof. I was totally gutted, as some of the pictures I started were doing so well, but just ended up being a blurred mess.
I was looking round amazon and went with some made by Copic. Best thing I did as now my pens don't bleed together. So for my first real attempt I thought I would draw Anna from Frozen, being a fairly easy character.

All was going so well with her, until I picked up a Khaki instead of the blender pen. She now seems to have a weird "scar" near her eye. I really enjoyed drawing this and have a good go at blending and layering different colours. After posting this on my Facebook, a friend of mine asked if I could have a go at Elsa.

Well for this one I have a little drama with her hair. Firstly I didn't have a yellow pale enough for her Blonde hair so I just left it white, hence this having a background colour. Also I didn't get her hair big enough, so she looks to have a massive head! I am still fairly happy with it, and loot forward to drawing more with the Promarkers.

Thanks a bunch

Children's Imagination...

This week has been a mega busy one, so my own art has to wait. I recently started working for a Kids Club, which is great fun. Most the time spent there being creative and just having a good time. This blog post is focusing on one little girl in particular. She also happens to be my neighbour and absolutely adores our dog Max. On two occasions she has brought me things she made of him. Both so very different, but both so lovely.

The first is made from Hamma Beads, the next is felt-tip pens. Here imaginations works is such a brilliant way, like all children's do. Both look so different, yet are the same little creature she is so fond of. These will be kept and treasured, like all children's art should be.

Today was a good day..

I was happy to come home today, as a package I had been waiting for what seemed like ages for arrived. Back tracking a little I decided to try some different art materials out, so I ordered a couple of sets of Promarkers, some coloured and black fine liners and also some Derwent colour pencils. Im hoping having these new materials i will have more ideas of things to try out.

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to draw with the Promarkers, so here, you can have a wonky self portrait. Im sure I will get use to using the markers, with a few different drawings.

Another item I was overly excited to receive was my Monoprice Graphics tablet. I have seen meaning to get one for ages now, as it does make editing image so much faster. Its going to tabs some time to get use to, as it has been a while since I used one. This one seems to be a little lagy when trying to draw, but again I am use with more use I will get use to it.

Well hopefully we will have some good bits of work to look at soon :D

The Beast and The Creature

As I mentioned in my first post, you may see a lot of the animals the reside in my home. These are just some basic water colours with pen out lines I did a few months ago. The work I will be mainly showing in these earlier posts may be of older work. I am currently working on newer things so hopefully I will have some stuff to share soon :D

This is Flo, she is such a loveably yet greedy kitty. She is my creature, and must have good genes as her kittens are some of the cutest I have ever seen!

This is Maximus, my Mothers dog. Sometimes I think he might think of him self as a cat. He loves Flo so much, always wanting to give her kisses, this does not amuse her. He is the beast in this home.

I hope this basic work gives you enjoyment to look at. Let me know any thoughts, or even other animals to draw.

Lets start with an introduction, shall we?

Hello to the wide world of the web. My name is Amber Jennie Patricia Lomas, I was born 29th October 1991 (so I am currently 22 years 8 months and 9 days incase you really wanted to know). I have a cat called Flo, who had 4 beautiful kittens 5 weeks ago, two of which we are keeping (George and Mildred). There is also Max, our very cheeky Yorkshire Terrier. I tell you about these creatures as the may apperear (most likely too often for people to care) in post as I love these animals far too much, and sometimes they are either too darn funny or cute not to tell the world :D. I also still residedwithin the family home, sometimes I think the Mother might hint a little too much at wanting me to become a real grown up, but then again I think she would miss me far too much and beg me to come home, or at least thats what I tell her.

Now to some arty facts:
I have enjoyed doing art from a young age, with my dad being quite good so I kind of picked it up from there.
I did the obvious and chose to carry on art when I chose my 4 subjects for GCSE level. After enjoying every minuet of it at that level I then went to a college to study more.
I chose a course that would let me trial a varied amount of styles of art. This is where I started to get involved with Photography. This is when I chose what I wanted to do when I went to the big world of University. At what seemed to be a long but enjoyable wait I finished my degree in Photography with a Desmond Tu Tu (2:2), as people like to refer it too.

After working so much with a camera I kinda wanted to get back to the basics of art, so i haven't really used my camera a lot since I left, but I have began to plan of shooting again. The break really helped me remind my self of what I loved about Photography.

Now to what this blog is all about. I want to us this casual way of showing my art to the world. But I also want to just chit chat about what things in the world inspire me, be it the work of others, the weather, memories and moments or the people around me.
